Stop Bullshitting Yourself: The Real Reason You Haven’t Transformed Yet
When it comes to transformation, most people aren’t stuck because they don’t know what to do. They’re stuck because they refuse to get real with themselves about why they aren’t doing it. We create mental traps and convenient excuses to avoid facing the hard truth: we want the result, but we don’t want to face the discomfort of doing the work it takes to get there.
I’ve seen it time and time again in my coaching practice. I’ve lived through it myself. Clients come with dreams of freedom, healing, and empowerment, but as soon as the work gets real, excuses start flowing like clockwork. Money. Time. Responsibilities. They suddenly become master storytellers, spinning narratives to justify why they can’t commit. They don’t realize that their stories are the very cage keeping them stuck.
This is why BreakBox Coaching doesn’t sell single coaching sessions. If you want a way out when things get hard, go to therapy. They will let you not show up for yourself for as long as you want to. I won’t. You chose BreakBox, you choose to change, period.
So today, I’m going to get brutally honest with you. If you’re not where you want to be, it’s not because of money, time, or circumstance. It’s because you’re bullshitting yourself. Let’s break this down and confront the reality you’ve been avoiding.
The Illusion of ‘Not Enough Money’
“I can’t afford coaching right now. Maybe later.” Sound familiar?
This is one of the most common excuses people use to avoid transformation. But the truth is, when something is a non-negotiable priority, people always find the money. Think about the last time your car broke down or your phone died. Did you tell yourself, Well, I guess I’ll live without transportation or communication for the next six months? No. You made it work because it was urgent and essential.
“When you say you can’t afford transformation, what you’re really saying is that it’s not important enough to you. ”
Here’s the uncomfortable truth: When you say you can’t afford transformation, what you’re really saying is that it’s not important enough to you. It doesn’t hurt badly enough. You haven’t reached the point where staying the same is more painful than changing.
People invest in what matters to them. If you’re willing to spend hundreds on vacations, clothes, or entertainment but claim you can’t afford to invest in your own freedom, it’s time to ask yourself what you’re avoiding. You don’t have a money problem—you have a commitment problem.
Transformation doesn’t wait for your finances to be perfect. It waits for you to get serious. Are you ready to prioritize yourself, or are you going to keep pretending money is the issue?
Time: The Ultimate Convenient Excuse
The next favorite excuse? “I don’t have time.”
We live in a society where being busy is almost a badge of honor. People claim they can’t find time to focus on themselves because of work, family, or other commitments. But here’s the truth: you always have time for what you prioritize.
Time is not something you “find.” It’s something you make. If you spend hours scrolling on social media, watching Netflix, or overworking yourself for others’ approval, you have time. You’re just choosing to use it on things that keep you numb instead of things that create change.
“You have time. You’re just choosing to use it on things that keep you numb instead of things that create change.”
Transformation requires a conscious reallocation of your time. You might need to say no to people who constantly drain you. You might need to get uncomfortable by disrupting your usual routines. But until you take responsibility for how you spend your time, you’ll stay stuck in the same loop.
Here’s a reality check: You either schedule time to invest in your growth, or life will schedule pain for you until you finally learn the lesson. Which will it be?
Pain as the Great Motivator
Human beings are wired to avoid discomfort. We instinctively seek comfort and familiarity, even when those things are toxic. It’s why so many people stay in unfulfilling jobs, dysfunctional relationships, or unhealthy habits. It feels safer to stay where you are—even if it’s miserable—than to leap into the unknown.
But there’s a breaking point that eventually comes for everyone: the point where the pain of staying the same becomes greater than the fear of change. This is the moment when transformation is no longer optional—it’s survival.
The problem is, most people wait until they’re drowning in pain to act. They wait until they hit rock bottom before they finally decide to do the work. But here’s the question: why wait? Why keep bullshitting yourself with excuses instead of choosing to free yourself now?
Transformation can begin at any moment you decide. You don’t have to hit rock bottom. You just have to get real enough with yourself to say, I’m done with this version of my life. Until you reach that level of commitment, no amount of external motivation will move you.
Breaking the Cycle: My Own Wake-Up Call
I know this cycle all too well because I was caught in it, too. I spent years making excuses for why I wasn’t taking the leap, convincing myself that my circumstances were the reason I wasn’t growing. I told myself I needed more time, more money, more certainty. But the truth? I was scared.
I was scared of failing. Scared of stepping into the unknown. Scared of leaving behind the version of me that felt familiar—even if that version was miserable. But eventually, my excuses started costing me too much. The pain of staying the same became unbearable. I had no choice but to face myself and do the work.
And the work was hard. It challenged everything I thought I knew about myself. But on the other side of that discomfort, I found something priceless: freedom. The kind of freedom that doesn’t just look good on paper but actually feels good in your soul. The kind that allows you to wake up every day knowing you are in full control of your life.
This is why I do what I do. I coach people through this exact transformation because I know how suffocating it feels to be stuck. But I also know how powerful it is to finally break free. And I want that for you.
Make the Leap
At BreakBox Coaching, I don’t work with people who are halfway in. I work with those who are ready to stop lying to themselves and do the real work. If you’re tired of your own excuses and done with the pain of staying the same, it’s time to take the leap.
This isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s for those who are ready to confront the truth, take responsibility, and rise into their power. If that’s you, let's get to work.
